Este é um guia rápido de regras gerais para a maioria dos tempos verbais existentes em Inglês. Para exceções às regras gerais abaixo, peça ajuda ao seu professor.
To Be (Present)
Aff: I am/I’m; You are/You’re; He/She/It is (He’s/She’s/It’s); We are/We’re; You are/You’re; They are/They’re
Neg: I am not; You aren’t/are not; He/She/It isn’t/is not; We aren’t/are not; You aren’t/are not; They aren’t/are not
Int: Am I?; Are you?; Is he/she/it?; Are we?; Are you?; Are they?
Int/Neg: Aren’t you?; Isn’t he/she/it?; Aren’t we?; Aren’t you?; Aren’t they?
*Para a forma interrogativa-negativa do verbo to be na primeira pessoa do singular ( I ), usa-se a forma “Aren’t I?”.
Simple Present (I, You, We, They)
Aff: verbo normal.
They work.
Neg.: don’t/do not antes do verbo.
They don’t work.
Int: Do antes da pessoa.
Do they work?
Int/Neg: Don’t antes da pessoa.
Don’t they work?
Simple Present (He, She, It)
Aff: verbo com s.
She works.
Neg.: doesn’t/does not antes do verbo que volta ao normal.
She doesn’t work.
Int: Does antes da pessoa, verbo volta ao normal.
Does she work?
Int/Neg: Doesn’t antes da pessoa, verbo volta ao normal.
Doesn’t she work?
Simple Past (regular verbs)
Aff: verbo com ed.
She worked.
Neg.: didn’t/did not antes do verbo que volta ao normal.
She didn’t work.
Int: Did antes da pessoa, verbo volta ao normal.
Did she work?
Int/Neg: Didn’t antes da pessoa, verbo volta ao normal.
Didn’t she work?
Simple Past (irregular verbs)
Aff: cada verbo tem seu próprio passado. (ver a lista de irregulares aqui)
She went (verbo original é go).
Neg.: didn’t/did not antes do verbo que volta ao normal.
She didn’t go.
Int: Did antes da pessoa, verbo volta ao normal.
Did she go?
Int/Neg: Didn’t antes da pessoa, verbo volta ao normal.
Didn’t she go?
Future (going to)
Aff: Pessoa + am/is/are + going to + verbo principal.
She is going to dance.
Neg.: Pessoa + Am not/isn’t ou is not/aren’t ou are not + going to + verbo principal.
She isn’t going to dance.
Int: Inverte am/is/are com a pessoa.
Is she going to dance?
Int/Neg: Verbo to be na frente, na negativa abreviada (n’t).
Isn’t she going to dance?
Future (will)
Aff: will antes do verbo.
They will/They’ll work.
Neg.: won’t/will not antes do verbo.
They won’t/will not work.
Int: Will antes da pessoa.
Will they work?
Int/Neg: Won’t antes da pessoa.
Won’t they work?
Condicional (would)
Aff: would antes do verbo.
They would/They’d work.
Neg.: wouldn’t/would not antes do verbo.
They wouldn’t/would not work.
Int: Would antes da pessoa.
Would they work?
Int/Neg: Wouldn’t antes da pessoa.
Wouldn’t they work?
Modais (Can, Could, Should, May, Might, Ought to…)
Aff: modal antes do verbo.
They should work.
Neg.: modal + not ou abreviado (n’t ao final) antes do verbo.
They should not/shouldn’t work.
Int: Inverte modal com pessoa.
Should they work?
Int/Neg: Modal na frente na negativa abreviada (n’t)
Shouldn’t they work?
To Be (Past)
Aff: I was; You were; He/She/It was; We were; You were; They were

Present/Past/Future Continuous:
Exemplo com o Present Continuous:
Pessoa + is/am/are + verbo de ação com ing:
She is dancing.
Neg: She isn’t/is not dancing.
Int: Is she dancing?
Int/Neg: Isn’t she dancing?
Para o Past Continuous ou Future Continuous, basta utilizar as regras do passado e futuro do To Be.
Haver:
Aff: There + to be.
There is/There’s a boy here.
Neg: Negativa do to be.
There isn’t/is not a boy here.
Int: Inverte to be com there.
Is there a boy here?
Int/Neg: To be na frente na negativa abreviada.
Isn’t there a boy here?
Obs.: Para os outros tempos verbais conjugados com haver, simplesmente conjuga-se o verbo To Be no tempo verbal desejado.
